You have probably heard the buzz about online training. You also probably have a lot of questions about it. To put it simply, online training is an exciting way to offer health and fitness coaching that can be utilized by anyone from anywhere, offering convenience, responsiveness, flexibility, support, and affordability. Online training is the most cost-effective, flexible, way to reach your fitness goals. If you want to workout where and when it’s convenient for you, instead of relying on someone else’s location and availability, online training could be for you.
Every coach runs their online training programs differently. My program is just one example of how online training can work. If you like the idea of reaching your fitness goals even with a crazy schedule and tight budget, then keep reading to see what online training has to offer.
You get customized workouts created specifically for you and your goals. Every client is different. I don’t use a cookie-cutter program that I apply to every client. Each client’s program is based on their goals, level of fitness, history of injuries/illness, and lifestyle. I work with whatever each client prefers and the equipment available to them, including their own homes, outdoors, or a local gym.
You also get nutrition coaching where you’ll make small powerful changes to your daily habits. Your nutrition plan supports your fitness goals. I don’t give out prescribed meal plans because they don’t work. Learning to make food related decisions sets you up for long term success, which is what we want. Not to mention, only a registered dietician should be writing a prescribed meal plan.
There’s no restriction with my nutrition coaching. Instead I empower you to take control of your nutrition in a balanced way that works for you and your lifestyle.
With online coaching, you also get personal support throughout the week. The level of communication ranges from in-app text messages and email to video exercise form checks to weekly (or bi-weekly) zoom check-ins.
I try to keep things as simple as possible. I use one complete app for my online training: fitness workout, nutrition, and communication. Check-ins are through zoom. Your fitness workouts and nutrition goals are all housed in the app. Fitness workouts have a brief description of that month’s program as well as videos demonstrating each exercise. As you complete a workout you log weights used and reps completed. This helps me to progress workouts as needed. I receive notifications when a client completes a workout (talk about accountability) and I can easily keep tabs on everyone’s progress.
Daily food logs are also entered into the app. You have the option of saving favorite meals to make entering data even quicker. If food logging isn’t for you, you can post pictures of your meals.
You do not have to be tech savvy to use this. Trust me, I’m not and have navigated through the app with ease. Entering workout data and logging food probably will take only about 6 minutes of your day. And the fact that I can see it all immediately is phenomenal.
A wide variety of people can benefit from online training.
Most trainers have a specific niche. As a client, you can seek out a trainer who precisely suits your needs, even if they live on the other side of the country. For example, I work with clients who want to lose weight, get strong, build confidence, and ditch the diet mentality. If you were looking to compete in a fitness competition, I wouldn’t be the right coach for you but could help you find one that would be a match. BUT, if your’e looking to make a health and fitness a priority in your life, let’s chat!
Do you have a busy schedule? Yes, then online training is great for you. You complete your workouts when and where you want, instead of being stuck with someone else’s schedule. But, you still get the benefit of a structured program and ongoing support from a coach. We can also be more flexible with your workout programs than a typical 60-minute gym session.
Online coaching is great for someone who travels a lot. Maintaining and improving your fitness can be challenging if you travel a lot. Having a plan of action and a coach helps! We can adjust workouts to the equipment that you will have available at any given time.
Online training is cost-effective. If your budget is a little tight, online training is a great option to still have guided support for your fitness goals.
You will need some level of self-motivation and self-discipline to get the most out of online training. If you’re the type of person who needs an appointment with a trainer at a gym to get your workout done, online training might not be for you. Of course you get structure, direction, support, and accountability, but it’s still up to you to get done what you’ve set out to do.
